Okay, so one of the reasons I’ve been absent is because I’ve just accepted a job some six to seven hours away from where I currently live. It’s been so stressful just trying to get on top of things. I start next Monday, and don’t even have a rental property yet! I’m hoping to hear about a property today, but even if I go ahead with it I may not be able to move in before my start date. Too stressful. Way too stressful! And, it’s been a real pain in the arse having to travel to do property inspections.
And, while I’d love to be a full-time author, I’m not at the stage where I can do that without financial concerns. I will continue to write and pitch to agents and/or publishers — in fact, Eleanor has just been passed on to another agent/publisher, yay! — I’m also planning to submit Eleanor to the Vogel Award this year, so I will need to ensure my manuscript is as perfect as it can be. Unfortunately, my writing is just going to have to take a bit of a back seat to my new job 😦
I was working on Book One of my Wings of Malice series for Camp NaNoWriMo this year, but I’ve fallen quite behind my targets with all the travelling to and from. And, this last week before I move (assuming I can) is completely booked out with farewells, shopping for the new place, last minute appointments, and so on.
The hours, too, for my new job will be kind of erratic, with the roster changing every now and then, so making time for writing may be a struggle. Sigh.
Anyway, that’s what’s basically been keeping me occupied this past month.
But, tonight is all about relaxing and learning all the ins and outs of Natasha Lester’s new book, The Paris Seamstress — in all the chaos, I probably forgot to mention that I got tickets to attend Lester’s conversation about her new book! I can’t wait to finally meet this wonderful author!
