Moving along

This week has been so difficult, mentally. I really don’t want to go into details, but it’s regarding what I mentioned in my last blog post. I don’t even want to tread there lightly as it’s been such an emotional drain.

And, I’m not sure where to start as my mind is a mess right now.

I guess… firstly, Eleanor has moved from my beta reader on to an agent. So, fingers crossed. I’d just love some feedback if nothing else. I did receive mostly positive comments from my beta, and just some minor suggestions for change.

I should also be hearing back from Book Pipeline at the end of the month so, hopefully, I’ll get some feedback from them. Once that comes through, I’ll make any necessary amendments then try again with another agent.

Secondably, I will be entering Eleanor to the Vogel Award this year. I don’t think my chances are that great, but I thought I would give it a go nonetheless. Of course, I’ll be waiting on feedback from Book Pipeline, etc before I enter. If Eleanor isn’t successful (ie not long-listed, etc), I can try again with another novel next year.

As things are still a bit hectic — well, I have a temporary respite at the moment, but next week will be the same — I am quite behind on a lot of work. I’ve been writing whenever I get the chance, but it hasn’t been much, unfortunately. Likewise with my reading and reviews. I was hoping to have another review done this week or next, but it doesn’t look like that will happen now.

I’m also looking to enter Camp NaNoWriMo this year to complete the first novel in my Wings of Malice series. At this stage, with everything going on, I’m not sure if I will have the time but I want to give it a go as I really need to finish this novel.

Now, regarding Saga of the Sinner, I’ve been advised that considering the work I’ve put into it, I may need to rethink my intentions with it and the audience. So, that’s something I will have to reconsider. I’ve been writing it as a narrative, however I have also been relying heavily on primary and secondary sources and so I don’t know if I should write a nonfiction piece instead. I have been putting off this project since finishing National Novel Writing Month last year. Although I have roughly 60k words under my belt, I still feel it is nowhere near completion.

Right now, I think I have a better chance finishing Wings of Malice (the first novel, at least), so I will continue focusing on that project instead.

And lastly, my designer, Phoenix Johnson (of Phoenix Johnson Graphic Design) has begun work on a cover design for Wings of Malice. I’ve seen a couple of her samples for the first novel and it looks amazing. I can’t wait to see the finished product.

I think that’s it for this week. Thanks for joining me.
